Audiometry

Audiometry (Hearing Assessments) is an extremely important measure that should be respected by employee’s that are subjected to high levels of noise exposure.

Course of Action:

  • Once a noise issue has been identified by your Risk Assessment we can undertake regular hearing tests to monitor the health of your employees to help you meet your statutory requirements under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2005).

Testing:

  • The tests themselves can then be performed on all affected workers, detecting an hearing loss and can then be signposted for further management referral.

Regulation Compliance:

  • Our organisation complies strictly with the standards set out by the Control of Noise at Work Regulations (2005).

Anyone operating specialist vehicles of any kind should be screened for the appropriate checks, as suggested by the HSE.

HSE recommends that anyone operating these types of vehicles should be screened:

  • Before employment
  • Every 5 years after 45 years
  • Age 65+ should have annual checks
  • After absences of more than one month, or shorter if the illness was serious and could affect the driver

We offer the appropriate checks to ensure that anyone who is involved with specialist machinery is completely fit and safe whilst working.

Workstation Assessments

More and more work is now becoming office based, and with that increase, the prevalence of Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WRMSD’S) is also more abundant.

Due to the sedentary nature that these jobs promote, joints and ligaments spend hours upon end loaded in a certain position, which, if repeated daily, is a major risk factor for WRMSD’s.

Display Screen Equipment is used in almost every job, and some people spend the majority of their working day staring at a screen.

Improper set up of this type of equipment can lead to health problems inluding:

  • Fatigue
  • Eye Strain
  • Upper Limb Problems
  • Backache
We carry out checks around the workplace, to ensure the stations are all set up as they should.

We have continual success in deploying these methods. It has been said that having careful consideration of ones workstation ergonomics can result in up to 10% productivity increases.

Management Referrals

A key part of our business is providing help when it comes to sickness absence, in the form of management referrals.

We provide training for managers, giving them the tools they need to create and adapt an effective sickness absence policy and instructing them on when to look at Occupational Health.

Our assessments can be provided in or out of office, and a full report will be issued upon completion.

We believe the statistics speak for themselves in regards to absence:

  • 137.3 million working days were lost due to sickness or injury in the UK. This is equivalent to 4.3.days per worker
  • Musculoskeletal problems (including back pain, neck and upper limb problems) at 30.8 million days (22.4%).

Health Promotion/Checks

Employee Health Checks are positive steps towards a healthy company and can go a long way to increase the well-being of your workforce.

These checks are consultations with an Occupational Health Nurse who will look at important elements of your health which affect your day to day.

We look at the following during a health check:

  • Blood Glucose Levels
  • Weight
  • Height
  • BMI
  • Cholesterol Levels
  • Blood Pressure
The Benefits:

  • Health checks show that the company is taking the initiative and practising business commitment to employee well-being, something that resonates with staff.
  • People might be more likely to participate in work based health checks, rather than going to their local GP.
